Mission Statement
The Knoxville Center for Reproductive
Health is a non-profit educational reproductive health center
dedicated to providing women with contraceptive information, options
counseling in times of unplanned pregnancies, safe legal abortions,
as well as sound gynecological and medical care. Our goal is to deliver
comprehensive yet low-cost reproductive services in a supportive,
nonjudgmental, knowledge-based environment, which respects individual
choice and religious practices and affiliations.
The Knoxville Center for Reproductive
Health has been a vital resource for the women of Tennessee,
Kentucky, Georgia, and Virginia since 1975.
Among the first of its kind to be licensed
by the state of Tennessee, the Center offers its patients a wide
range of medical services, including pregnancy testing, routine
gynecological care, abortion, and family planning. These services
are provided from a woman-centered perspective. Supportive and educational
counseling, which respects individual choice and religious affiliation,
supplements the Center's medical practice.
As a small, private, not-for-profit clinic, the Knoxville Center
for Reproductive Health offers personal attention to each patient
in an intimate atmosphere. Designed with the individual in mind,
the staff anticipates the patient's need for privacy and discretion.
The Center, which serves patients from Tennessee and neighboring
states, is located on the corner of Clinch Avenue and 16th Street,
near the University of Tennessee and downtown Knoxville.
A member of the National
Abortion Federation, the Center is one of more than
300 abortion providers committed to protecting the availability
of safe, legal abortion in the United States. The National Abortion
Federation plays a leadership role in setting medical and counseling
standards in the interest of promoting quality care.
Morris D. Campbell, M.D., supervises medical care at the Knoxville
Center for Reproductive Health. He is a diplomat of the American
Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and also a fellow in the American
College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He lives in Knoxville and
has privileges at local hospitals.
Routine gynecological and family planning care is provided by Corinne
Rovetti, RN, CS/MSN. She is a certified family nurse practitioner,
specializing in women's health care with a holistic perspective.
The Center also has a professional counseling staff. The counseling
staff forms the vital link between the Center's medical services
and its patients. Women who are troubled by an unplanned pregnancy
may benefit from decision-making counseling, a non-directive approach
designed to help an individual evaluate all of her options - parenting,
adoption, and abortion - and to help her make the choice that is
right for her. For those who choose abortion, individual counseling
is provided to discuss the decision, identify the patient's feelings
and conflicts, and to explore resources available for emotional
support. At the patient's request, parents, partners, or friends
may be included in the counseling process. For women who desire
it, post-abortion counseling is also available. Some women feel
pressured or coerced into choosing abortion, and when this happens,
post-abortion conflict can arise. Our staff will help you work through
these conflicts by providing you with honest information, practical
skills, compassion, and support.
The Center's other medical and professional staff includes our administrative
director, our office manager, registered nurses, operating room
technicians, a medical technologist, and telephone counselors/receptionists.
Alice, our office manager, is always happy to answer your questions
and provide you with the personalized attention you deserve. Just
ask Alice!
For our abortion patients, a staff member is on call at all times,
including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Consultation regarding
urgent problems is available by calling our office (865) 637-3861.
Our answering service will take your name and phone number, and
the nature of your problem. We will return your call as soon as
possible.
